Well done. You have now found that you have the desire to exercise, but you do not have anyone to do it with.
That is okay. You do not need to have friends or family or a support network straight away.
Exercise and movement can be as simple as getting out for a walk or a jog or doing a home workout in your home space.
Starting is just the first step. With this desire in mind and without the friends or support network with you, starting exercise, you are going to have a couple of steps to move forward.
Make a routine
First one we want to start with is, make it a routine. If it is every week at five o’clock in the morning or at night time in the afternoon after dinner, begin there. Whether it is once, twice, three times a week, every single week be consistent and stick to that routine. By doing that, you are allowing yourself to set up a habit and mark it off as a tick, rather than a cross.
Variety
You have now got the routine down pat. Love it. Keep it going. That is where you find the biggest results. But when your motivation starts to slip down, and then you start to question about your routine. Even though you are doing it, how are you going to move forward, keeping training consistent? Variety. Variety is a great way to spark your interest in exercise and movement. It could be as simple as swapping a weights program with a different type of tool or doing resistance training to cardio training. Whether you do running, go swimming, a small variation can keep you interested in your workouts and keep that continuity that you have worked so hard to build.
Now you have got your routine set. You are having fun with the variety and your exercise is now feeling ‘on point’. Good! Keep it going. This journey you commenced with without hesitation, without having anyone with you on this journey. Now you know you can do this; you also know the feeling of having a ‘friend’ or ‘team’ making the motivation easier.
Share your experience
Being able to share your excitement and your lows with others, brings pride in your accomplishment & support when you feeling down with it. By doing so it might plant a seed in their head that, wow, if she could do it, I can do it too. Share this with your friends, your family, or anyone that you would like to be a part / would benefit from exercise as well.
Chose group training
The last step, or it could be your first one, is start with group training. Group training is wonderful because this journey that you have now been on includes these steps. The best thing is you do not have to do all that work. It is set at a certain time (make a routine). You rock up & bang there is friends automatically (share your experience) as you get to know them of course and the Coach/Personal Trainer does all the thinking for you to provide a fun & varied workout (variety). Group training could either go at the start or the end of your journey, either way it is a great option to include.
Continue take steps forward to making movement & exercise a regular element of your life. Remember these points above to help you start exercising even without anyone joining at the beginning.
